Wat
Chulamani, Amphoe Muang is the oldest temple situated on the
former site of Phitsanulok city. Historical records
indicate that King Borommatrai Lokanath built a Viharn and he
himself ordained at this temple in B.E. 2007 for 8 months and 15
days along with 2,348 aides.
Some outstanding edifices in the temple
are the shrine of the model footprint and inscription stones
that King Narai the Great had built. The brief content of
the inscription goes that in B.E. 2221 King Narai the Great
ordered to use a piece of cloth to lay on the footprint and
engrave it on the rock for the people to pay homage.
Beside, there is a small Khmer style prang adorned with
ornamental stucco of graceful swan figures.
